Ingredients
  

  • 1 6-ounce boneless strip steak (about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 teaspoons Coarse kosher salt (divided)
  • ½ teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp One tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions
 

  • Heat grill to high. Pat steak dry with paper towels and rub the entire surface with oil. 
  • Season both sides of steak evenly with one teaspoon salt and pepper.
  • Grill steak until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 115 degrees F for rare, 4 to 8 minutes per side, or 120 degrees F for medium-rare, 5 to 10 minutes per side. 
  • Transfer steak to a cutting board and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Cut steak against the grain into thin slices and serve.
