Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, at room temperature (2 sticks)
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 4 Large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 cup Buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy in a large bowl. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, and baking soda in another bowl. Add to the butter mixture, alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
