The overall preparation and cooking time of a cheesecake can be wildly different. If you make an unbaked cheesecake with gelatin, it takes at least 4-5 hours, depending on the size, for it to settle in the fridge, but leaving it overnight is usually suggested to make sure.

Preparing for a cake also takes more time, the more ingredients you plan on using, like curing fruits, destemming and deseeding them, creating a crust, these can all be time-consuming or fast, depending on your recipe.

The baking time is usually between 40-60 minutes, and you can count double the baking time to let it cool off. Overall, the active preparation is generally between 40-60 minutes, the rest is just waiting.

The best recipes vary greatly between countries. Japanese cheesecake, for example, is baked in steam and requires slightly longer and lower heat to prepare.

This may seem complicated, but it is actually quite simple. Preheat the oven to 310°F and place a baking pan filled with water in the bottom of the oven. Allow it to come to a boil and begin steaming before placing your cheesecake in the oven for 60-70 minutes. For the first 45 minutes, do not open the oven.

Regular cheesecake takes 40-60 minutes to bake, depending on the size of the cake and the ingredients, at a temperature of 320-400°F.

The baking time of a cake is determined by several factors, the most important of which is the size of your cake. The general consensus is that a 16-slice cake baked in a 7-inch cake form is a standard size.

For a cake that size, it takes a regular cheesecake 40-60 minutes to bake at 325°F. If you used several moist ingredients that have a lot of water, like fruits, it takes slightly longer to bake.

Also, keep in mind, that either under-or overcooked cheesecake is delicious. It doesn’t dry out easily. The only downside really, is that it’s harder to slice it neatly in its undercooked.

Ingredients

  • 7-inch cake form
  • 7 Medium-sized pears (preferable Williams pear, but others will suffice); 4 for decoration, 3 goes into the cake
  • 200 ml Cherry flavored light beer
  • 200 gr Plain white chocolate
  • 2 tbsp Lavender or a few drops of lavender extract
  • 12 oz Cream cheese (we suggest mascarpone)
  • 150 gr Brown sugar
  • 150 gr Heavy cream whipped
  • 2 tbsp Orange zest
  • A pinch of orange peels
  • ½ tbsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Butter for the cake form
  • 200 gr Cinni-Minnis or any plain cinnamon cereal
  • 180 gr Butter for the crust

Instructions

  • Grease the cake form with butter and hint it evenly with flour to make sure your cake won’t stick to it.
  • First, make the crust by melting the butter, and in a shredder combine it with the cinnamon cereal. Spread it evenly into the cake form and bake in the preheated oven at 325 degrees for 20 mins.
  • Start cutting the pears. Slice 4 of them into long quarters after removing the seeds and stems. On the stovetop, pour the cherry beer into the saucepan and on low heat, poach the pears face down with the lid on. Cook them for 20 minutes.
  • Cut the remaining 3 pairs into uniformly small cubes after peeling and removing the stems and seeds. On the stovetop, cook them with 100ml of water, 150gr brown sugar, and the lavender on medium heat for 20 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, melted white chocolate, the whipped heavy cream, orange zest and peels, vanilla extract, and finally, the sugary lavender cooked pear cubes. Mix them well.
  • Pour your cake mix over the crust and place your pear quarters on top to mark the slices. Place it in the preheated oven and bake it at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Serve it chilled.

How long does cheesecake take to set in fridge?

You can either make a cheesecake by baking it or adding gelatin and setting it unbaked in the fridge. The latter is always nerve-racking for inexperienced bakers, especially over the holidays when you’re worried it won’t set in time.

That’s why you should always make it a day prior, and let it set in the fridge overnight. It usually doesn’t take so long, but just 3-5 hours. Although if you used some alcohol in your cake, that normally takes longer to set, even with additional gelatin.

Can I cook the cheesecake at a higher temperature?

Although it’s entirely possible to cook it at a higher temperature, but never above 400 degrees.

Cheesecakes should be soft for the bite and slightly moist, and by overbaking it all the delicateness disappears.

If you want to caramelize the top, because you added some fruits on it, or just like it that way, for the last 5-10 minutes, you can turn on the grilling function in your oven and put the cake on the top shelf. That should caramelize it.

Final tips and tricks

Cheesecake is a terrific choice for gourmands since you may add an intriguing taste to a mild yet delicious base.

Chamomille cheesecake, edible flowers, matcha, black sesame paste, rose, and rhubarb are among the most unusual flavors I’ve encountered.
