What is the best temperature to cook prime rib?
The best temperature to cook prime ribs is 250 Degrees. So is it safe to cook ribs at this temperature? Will it incubate any bacteria?

Well, this depends on the weight of the rib. You can cook it for about 25 mins per pound, so this means if you are cooking 2 ribs weighing around 4 pounds then it should take about 1 hour and 40 mins approx.
You can always check it 30 mins before the estimated time. If you want it medium rare you can check the temperature if it reaches 130 degrees then you would know it’s cooked medium-rare.
Prime Rib recipe at 250 degrees
Ingredients
- Standing Prime Rib
- Kosher Salt
- Freshly Ground black pepper
Instructions
- Season the Rib with a good amount of salt and black pepper.
- Preheat the oven to 250 F. put the roast in a large roasting pan on a V-rack set or if you don’t have V-rack you can use a wire rack set in a rimmed baking sheet.
- Put the roast in the oven and cook it for about 3 to 4 hours.
NOTE:
- Cook the center of the roast to 120 to 125 F degrees if you want it rare.
- For medium-rare the temperature should be 130 F
- For Medium to Medium-well temperature should be 135 F.
- Remove the roast from the oven and wrap it in the aluminum foil and let it sit in a warm place in the kitchen for about 30 mins.
- Now Pre Heat the oven at maximum temperature and when you are about to serve it put it back in the oven for 6-7 mins. It will give it a brown crispy outer layer.
