Red Robin Buzz Sauce Recipe: How to Prepare at Home?

Today I will show the Red Robin Buzz Sauce recipe. It’s an easy-to-follow recipe you really should try!

Red Robin is known for its sticky burgers, perfect fries, refreshing beers, and, of course, mind-blowing sauces. They’re so amazing that they’ve started selling them separately. You can buy ready-made Red Robin sauces at Walmart and Amazon, and almost all of them are available.

You’d think this would take away the magic.

Fortunately, the popularity of this buzzing restaurant chain has been steady, but people have a keen interest in replicating restaurant meals at home. Out of convenience or price sensitivity? Who can say? The point is that it isn’t rocket science and you can easily recreate almost any dish or sauce at home. Thanks a lot, internet!

What is the Red Robin Buzz sauce?

Red Robin Buzz Sauce

Red Robin’s Buzzard sauce has no extraordinary or hard-to-get ingredients. There’s a very good chance you already have everything in your pantry. How come you never thought of this before?

Well, we tend to avoid mixing too many different ingredients, and most people don’t like experimenting with flavors.

This sauce is sweet, with sour and tangy undertones, just enough not to be mawkish, making it perfect for savory dishes. It’s so versatile that it’s hard to name a meal it won’t match perfectly.

However, the most fitting ones are chicken wings, for sure, but don’t be afraid to use them as a pizza topping. Red Robin offers a variety of sauces, the most well-known of which is the Buzz sauce.

What’s in the red robin buzz sauce?

To perfectly duplicate Red Robin’s Buzzard sauce, you need some roasted bell peppers, lemons, seasonings, and some sauces.

There’s no special ingredient or one that’s hard to find. You can get all of them at any regular grocery store. That’s why it can be a perfect staple in your household without ordering the pricy pre-made sauces online or driving to a restaurant.

It’s not too spicy, kids can eat it comfortably too, and it’s not boring either.

Peppers, seasonings, celery seeds, soy sauce, paprika, lemons, and vinegar are also frequent ingredients we all use. Due to its balanced but milder taste, it won’t overpower the chef’s meticulously prepared dishes. It’s like a more gourmet buffalo sauce.

Can I really make this sauce at home?

Yes! Creating a homemade dish always takes more time and effort than simply going to a place, sitting down, and choosing something to your liking.

However, sometimes it’s much more fulfilling to create something at home, enjoy the cooking process, make more portions than one, and it’s cheaper as well.

How long does it take to make this sauce at home?

You won’t have to do much work with this one; simply toss everything into a blender and process it. It takes about 5 minutes of active labor to prepare this sauce and serve it with whatever you want.

Roasting the peppers takes about 15 minutes, but you don’t have to keep an eye on them or guard them in the oven.

Just go on with your day. It’s a great homemade substitute for ketchup, but much more flavorful than buffalo sauce. It’s also convenient to make a larger batch and store the sauce in a glass jar, freezing it for later use.

Can I replace some ingredients?

Always feel free to experiment if you feel like doing so. After all, cooking is for your enjoyment, not just for practical purposes.

You can substitute any ingredient you’d like to, but keep in mind that these staples give the distinct taste of the famous Buzz sauce. Even one change can yield a slightly, or wildly, different flavor.

At the same time, if you find a slightly altered version of an ingredient, go for it. Celery seeds might give you a hard time. To make up for them, buy some mustard seeds. Those are easier to find. Some honey is also easily swappable with maple syrup. You won’t even feel the difference.

Tips and tricks for a better sauce

Spices for this sauce

The best sauces have smooth textures. To achieve this, remove all of the pepper’s skin. Covering the roasted peppers for a few minutes makes this much easier. Roasting them on medium heat for longer, as not burning them results in a much better taste.

Freshly made sauces sound amazing, but they definitely improve with time.

The flavors improve and blend beautifully after a night or even a day. For some unknown reason, making a larger batch usually results in a better-tasting dish. A large jar of this homemade Buzz sauce will keep in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.

You may be wondering why garlic powder is used rather than fresh garlic. If you prefer, you can use fresh garlic!

The main reason, however, is to achieve an even consistency. To get a more rustic flavor, add some roasted white onions and thoroughly blend them in with the food processor.

Final words

Don’t be intimidated by famous meals; they are made of the exact same ingredients that anyone can use.

Simple seasonings, spices, and sauces.

Just follow the recipe, taste on the way, and adjust to your liking. Easy-peasy. Most people believe that duplicating a renowned recipe at home is impossible. You can prove them wrong easily. The only real challenges are texture and shorter expiry dates. This is mostly due to not using artificial ingredients and additives at home.
