What’s in the Kiwi quencher tropical smoothie?

Ingredients for the Kiwi Quencher Tropical Smoothie

This low-fat, nutrient bomb of a smoothie is one of the healthiest options at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and you can even make it healthier at home.

The original recipe has roughly 400 calories, and 100 grams of sugar, which is plenty.

But keep in mind that Tropical Smoothie Cafe adds 2-3 pumps of turbinado sugar syrup to their every smoothie. You can recreate the same taste with much less sugar, giving you a way healthier meal!

Kiwi, Banana, Strawberries

Kiwis and bananas are considered high-sugar content fruits but combined with the tremendous amount of fibers in them, the sugar absorption from these fruits is still considerably slower than regular sugar, and much more healthy due to the nutrients they have.

Strawberries are very low-calorie and low-sugar fruits, perfect for any diet.

These fruits add natural sweetness and amazing taste to your smoothies, and frozen, create a creamy, thick texture for the smoothie that fills you up for a long time.

Milk, Yogurt, Ice

Low-fat or non-fat Greek yogurt is extremely healthy for your body and aids the well-being of your gut-flora. Scientists say that high-fat, natural Greek yogurt is even healthier. In case you have cardiovascular problems, non-fat might be better for you.

Whole milk has some healthy components to it, but plant-based kinds of milk are undeniably healthier overall, especially almond, hazelnut, or oat milk.

Soy milk is also great but should be consumed in moderate quantities.

They all add some creaminess to smoothies while making them lighter and more drinkable too. Ice is always optional, if you don’t fancy cold drinks, you can make them at room temperature.

Can I replace some ingredients

You can swap or replace any ingredients in this smoothie.

This recipe contains around 2-3 grams of protein when prepared with milk. If you wish to drink it as a meal replacement, add 1-2 scoops of plain or vanilla protein powder to make a more filling drink.

You can also replace bananas with a low-sugar content fruit such as pineapples, which are also quite sweet in taste or simply add more kiwis and strawberries.

You can skip the Greek yogurt but keep the creaminess and thickness of the smoothie by adding fine oats or oat feed to it. This also provides a good amount of protein and lots of fiber to the drink. In this case, you might need slightly more water because it becomes thicker quickly with time.

Can I store the smoothie?

Smoothies are best when you enjoy them fresh, straight from the blender, and mostly chilled, with only a few exceptions.

If you leave your smoothie for 1-2 hours, chances are it will be the same, with to changes in taste, texture, or smell. Don’t let this fool you, because smoothies lose their nutrient content by the minute, once you blended them, however delicious they remain.

You can store them safely in an airtight container for 8-12 hours in the fridge, or freeze them for one week. Freezing is only viable if you didn’t blend in fresh green leaves into your smoothie, because they wither away very fast, and this is also true for refrigerating them.

If you have to drink your smoothie later, it’s best to keep the ingredients blender-ready in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer and blend them fresh when you need them. You can also meal-prep them this way ahead of time. Unblended green leaves can be perfectly frozen.

By adding extra protein, oats, almond milk, oat milk, low-sugar fruits, or fresh green leaves, this can become your go-to, filling, healthy, and fast, everyday superfoods.
