All it takes is 5 minutes to make this mouthwatering treat for yourself on any given day.

This smoothie is bold, rich, thick in texture, and everyone loves it. It’s fun to make your favorite recipes at home, knowing you can recreate them anytime you wish to, in case you don’t feel like going to the store, or the Cafe decides to take it off of their menu.

Plus, you can make these store-recipes ways healthier at home, with less sugar, more protein, switching or taking away any ingredient you like, making them in any size you wish to, at every hour of the day.

By recreating these smoothies at home, sometimes you can save hundreds of calories on each drink, by putting in less sugar, or healthier ingredients.

What’s in the Tropical smoothie peanut paradise recipe?

Peanuts for the smoothie

To recreate the Peanut Paradise Smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe, you only need some basic ingredients, many of them probably already in your kitchen.

You will need peanut butter, banana, yogurt, and protein to make this recipe.

The original recipe incorporates some turbinado sugar syrup, exactly one scoop of it, but for this recipe, we deem that unnecessary. This will be just perfect without any added sugar.

Banana, Peanut butter

To make this smoothie as sweet as it can be without any additional sugar, try to pick very ripe, almost brown bananas for maximum sweetness.

Combined with creamy smooth peanut butter, this will be an ultimate creamy rich drink. If you love to taste some crunchy peanuts, you can add a light handful of plain peanuts for extra texture and healthy fats.

Yogurt, Milk, and Protein

The original recipe from Tropical Smoothie Cafe uses non-fat plain yogurt and vanilla whey protein.

There is a lot of variability for that, but for our perfect peanut paradise smoothie, we will use either vegan vanilla protein powder, whey powder, and some greek yogurt.

Vegan protein goes better with this recipe, than whey, and is also better for your cardiovascular health, to reduce inflammation, and not add to it in your body. Almond milk lightens the texture, which is very oily naturally. It will be easier to consume.

Notes

This recipe doesn’t incorporate ice, because contrary to popular belief, peanut butter tastes best at room temperature. Ice will take away lots of the richness and creaminess in this recipe.
However, if you can’t live without cool smoothies, and have a hard time waking up, adding some ice won’t ruin this recipe. It’s up to your preferences. You can garnish it with some crushed peanuts on top. Enjoy this healthy drink at any time!

Can I replace some ingredients?

You can swap or leave out any ingredients you don’t like in this recipe.

For a leaner drink, you can substitute the greek yogurt for an additional ½ cup of almond milk, especially sugar-free one.

By adding sugar-free protein powder, you can also moderate your sugar intake in this recipe.

It’s also possible to lower the calories in the peanut paradise smoothie by adding a special kind of peanut, that has been stripped off of the peanut oils in them.

You can buy these as a powder in many supermarkets and they contain much fewer calories and fats than regular peanuts, not to mention peanut butter.

If you don’t feel comfortable with adding protein powder, or you simply don’t have it at home, adding some extra oats or yogurt can do the trick. For extra sweetness, if calories don’t matter, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and some more bananas to the smoothie.

Can I store the smoothie?

You can store this smoothie for much longer than regular green smoothies. In an airtight container, they are good for 1-2 days in the fridge or up to 2 weeks in the freezer.

The natural oils and fats in this recipe make it perfect to keep for longer periods.

This smoothie is ideal to make in the morning and take it to work, and only drink it in the evening. The taste will be just as perfect, as consumed fresh.

Final words

This drink has a moderate sugar content but can be lessened with sugar-free peanut butter, almond milk, and protein powder.

The bananas can be less ripe for less sugar as well. You can recreate this smoothie with lots of natural and healthy fats, oils, vitamins, and minerals in mere minutes, and enjoy it for long hours after.

It’s not just healthier, but much cheaper to recreate your favorite recipes at home. Many smoothies cost as much at the store when ready bought when you buy the ingredients for 5-6 ones and the grocery store.

At the same time, you can use healthier ingredients, less sugar, and more nutrients, and add any kind of extra protein you prefer

You can add some dark cocoa to turn this smoothie into a desert, and maybe a scoop of vanilla, or dark chocolate ice cream as well.

When you prepare smoothies with protein powder, make sure to add it and blend the protein powder well into the drink before adding some ice to it, otherwise, you might have problems blending them in.
