Spinach

No one loves spinach more than Popeye, except us, who want to be strong, healthy, and glowing from the inside out. So you should eat your spinach, for a healthy immune system, lots of magnesium, and vitamin E. It’s especially beneficial in flue season.

Kale

Kale is like the popular kid in school when it comes to food, and for a very good reason. It has a combination of being very low on caloric and carbohydrates while having massive amounts of potassium, magnesium, copper, calcium, vitamins A-K-C-B6. It is a superfood, however annoying that sounds. But many don’t like it, so blending them into a smoothie is a perfect option.

Mango

You cannot miss mango in a tropical smoothie. After all, it is the epitome of tropical flavor. But mango is not just here to add an exotic touch to your smoothie, but to boost your immune system with tons of vitamin C on the way down. It also helps your body absorb iron better.

Pineapple

Pineapple is a popular fruit that should not be neglected in a tropical smoothie. You can also rely on it to reduce inflammation in your body, aid digestion, and, surprisingly, speed up recovery from injuries. For years, it has been a diet powerhouse to help you burn more fat.

Banana

It’s almost impossible to find a smoothie recipe without bananas because they fit in so well. They add the creaminess, thickness, and slight sweetness, and bring together all the different tastes in your smoothie. They are also a good ingredient to overpower any flavors you don’t want to taste, but want them for the health benefits, like kale, or spinach.

Ginger

Ginger is a real superstar among healthy, natural ingredients. The only downside is you have to be mindful of how much you use it, as it has a very distinct and bold, spicy flavor. It has astronomical amounts of antioxidants, helps your manage stress, chronic diseases, DNA damage, and any inflammation in your body.

Spirulina Powder

Don’t be afraid of that angry-green color, because spirulina algae are one of the healthiest things you can eat. According to science, it’s one of the secrets to a very long and healthy diet, because it helps your cells directly in staying young, and detoxing your body on a cellular level.

Coconut Water

Coconut water has a lot of electrolytes, it regulates blood sugar levels, hydrates your body very well, and improves kidney function. It also tastes amazing but doesn’t make this smoothie too creamy.

Can I replace some ingredients?

You can easily replace anything you don’t like from the ingredients. Maybe you just don’t have pineapple or mango at home and don’t feel like having a trip to the grocery store, and that’s perfectly fine. You can use whatever fruits you have at home, like apples or bananas.

Can I store the smoothie?

Usually, it’s not a good idea to store green smoothies for too long, because they will lose most of their nutritious value. The maximum amount of time you can store these smoothies without compromising the nutrients in them is around 1-2 hours in the fridge.
